Naval gamers, modelers of 1/300 watercraft we have a cool little boat set for you! The rigid inflatable boat (RIB), also rigid-hull inflatable boat or rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB), is a lightweight but high-performance and high-capacity virtually unsinkable boat constructed with a rigid hull bottom joined to side-forming air tubes that are inflated with air to a high pressure so as to give the sides resilient rigidity along the boat’s top. The design is so stable, light, fast and seaworthy that these craft have become ubiquitous in modern waters. The inflated collar acts as a life jacket, ensuring that the vessel retains buoyancy, even when the boat is taking on water. The RIB evoled from inflatable boats stiffened with flat boards within the collar to form the deck or floor.

Used as work boats supporting shore facilities, larger ships, etc. Also a common military and law enforcement craft for patrol, transport, and also as lifeboats.

RIBs are commonly four to nine meters (13 to 28 feet) long, although they can range in length between 2.5 and 18 meters (7.5 and 55 feet) RIBs are designed with hydroplaning hulls and often outperform many types of similarly sized and powered boats. RIBs can also generally cope better with rough seas. The maximum speed of the RIB depends on its gross weight, power, length and profile of hull, and sea conditions. A typical 20 foot dingy type RIB, with six passengers, 110 horsepower engines is very likely to have a top speed of around 30 knots (56 km/h). High-Performance RIBs may operate with a speed between 40 and 70 knots (74 and 130 km/h), depending on the size and weight.

This set has a wide range of RIB boats for your game or model, starting with a pair of 20 ft (20mm in scale) dingy with and without a cockpit up to a 33 footer. It includes two styles of nose on the large craft and a few twin outboard fast boat versions as well.

This set is printed in SLA and is fairly high res. This set is meant to be a one size fits most set for 5MM, 6mm, 1/350 and 1/300th scale models and games. PLEASE NOTE: one of the 30ft RIB’s in this set has an extremely delicate windscreen detail modeled that rarely survives the wash cleanup process. Thus officially we recommend this detail be replaced with a bit of clear plastic, or omitted altogether. Even if the detail survives the printing wash process, we can not guarantee it will survive shipping thus the customer should assume the sprue may or may not have this detail.
